I tour around the country as a college magician / mentalist as well as a hypnotist.
I have been a performer for many years and one of my favorite events to do shows are college shows.
Being a college magician , I have been performing everywhere – at small colleges as well as at big schools with thousands of students attending the event.
In my main stage show I perform a lot of magic effects with elements of mind reading ( which is pretty much “magic for your mind”) and students love it! Check out some videos of my college shows here. You can also see more about my other show called “Cards Against Hypnosis” here.
I wanted to highlight a few reasons of having a college magician at your next event and hope you find it helpful.
Engaging and exciting performance
One of the ways to surprise the students is to host a magician! Everyone loves magic, it gets people laughing, be amazed and having a lot of fun. A lot of people are familiar with a magician performance and are always looking forward to seeing some magic. I always involve a lot of audience participation in my shows, in that way people get to experience magic and mind reading up-close.
Versatility of performance
As a college magician, I offer 2 types of performances: stage show as well as a teaser walk-around show. Main stage show can be performed in any type of venue, anywhere from a classroom to a big theatre stage. The setup is not complicated at all, that allows for any last minute venue changes should you need it.
Works great for any type of event
A college magician is a great type of entertainment that would work for any type of event: Welcome week, Family weekend, Halloween, Talent shows and many more.
Promotion of the event
Before the show, if the time allows, I like to do what’s called a teaser show. Typically 1-2 hours before the main show, I would walk around a cafeteria or an area with the most students gathering, and will perform an up-close magic and mind reading effects. It’s a fantastic way to promote the show and increase an attendance!
Making a tradition
I have quite a bit of schools that I perform at year after year, and it has become a tradition for them to host a college magician. It’s a great relationship builder, and also makes it easier for event committee to plan events.
In fact, I also am a hypnotist as I have mentioned earlier. And I often return to same schools I have done my magic/ mind reading show and perform my hypnosis show.
Overall, no matter which entertainment you decide to bring to your school, I hope you find this post helpful and I wish you success in planning an event for your school.
